Department of Science & Technology is assisting States S&T Councils in identification, formulation and implementation of state level S&T programmes.

The role of DST is to provide catalytic support to state S&T councils to set up their professional S&T structures and function as a modern office, encourage programmatic initiative of State S&T Councils, facilitate development of catalytic linkages with other state S&T oriented programmes of Central Government and Agencies and pro-actively support programmes which could demonstrate the role S&T can play in the development of the states. This is done through various activities such as facilitating information exchange and dissemination, providing core support for technical secretariats and support to specific need based location specific projects.
